Palermo-Messina Railway-Lot 1 “Double Route Fiumetorto-Cefalu-Castelbuono”, Palermo (Italy)
Palermo, ItalyProject to double the Fiumetorto-Cefalu-Castelbuono railway route has been developed to increase regional connections between Palermo and urban cities of the North West coast of Sicily.
Referring to infrastructural projects for improving of the railway between Palermo and Messina, the project to double the Fiumetorto-Cefalu-Castelbuono railway route has been developed to increase regional connections between Palermo and urban cities of the North West coast of Sicily, highly touristic.
The doubling of Fiumetorto-Ogliastrillo route is a stretch of 20 km, which one is for an half under modified layout. Along this route there is the ‘Monte Poggio Maria’ Tunnel, whose route origins at Lascari village (Km 58 + 302 430) and ends at Ogliastrillo village (km 62 + 431 050). The tunnel is about 3.750 km of length.
The tunnel is affected by a slope variation from + 7.15 mt in Lascari up till + 33.247mt at Km 61+250.270. Then it slope down to 30,784 mt of altitude at km 62 +400,270.
Openprogetti took part of the variation construction design of technological system plant in tunnel and in technical rooms, located at the entrances of the emergency and rescue areas as follow:

- Piazzale Ogliastrillo
